Download Instructions for Historical-Geographical Country and City Maps, Coats of Arms, Flags etc.
I just want to look at the maps on-screen:
- Left-click on the thumbnail picture of your choice to see the map (in a new window) in full size.
- When you are done, please close this window (click on the [X] in the right upper corner of the window frame), and you will be back in the Archive.
Hint: It depends on the type of your internet connection (modem and access), how fast the map file will be shown on your screen.
I would like to download the maps to my computer:
- Left-click on the thumbnail picture of your choice to see the map (in a new window) in full size.
- Right-click on the enlarged map.
- Choose "save image as ..." and indicate into which directory you would like to download the file.
- When the download process is terminated, please close the window (click on the [X] in the right upper corner of the window frame), and you will be back in the Archive (some browsers automatically close the window after the download).
1. Hint: The map files have sizes of about 0.8 - 2.5 MB, i.e. download with older, slower modems may take 1-3 min.; in this case, please be patient!
2. Hint: If you want to look at and work with the map files on your computer, Hic Leones suggests to use the absolutely fabulous IRFAN-VIEWER , which you can download for free from the web. Using this excellent program, you can zoom in and out of the map, select and cut out sections and print it out your way. Enjoy looking, researching and understanding !
